Literally Naked. Pub Day!
In my twelve hours as a published author, I've discovered I have an incredibly kind, supportive group of people in my life. Posting and tweeting about, sharing, and (importantly) reading Nation of Enemies. It's humbling and amazing at the same time. Also, I feel naked.
My whole life I've written for an audience of one. And while I'm not easily pleased, I love my own imagination. I remember watching my husband, out of the corner of my eye, on the pillow next to me as he read an early draft. He would turn to me and I'd be grinning like a fool, nervous smile. Both wanting to know and not wanting to know what he was thinking.
So if all of you could see me now, I'm wearing that same nervous smile. At the end of the day, I write for myself. For fun and sanity, equal measures. I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I did. Thanks so much for reading.
And this note from my youngest, on my pub day:
